Role Summary
Medical Science Liaison (MSL) at Acadia Pharmaceuticals, focusing within the neuroscience therapeutic area. You will be a scientific ambassador, connecting cutting-edge research with healthcare professionals to drive better patient outcomes and cultivate influential relationships with key opinion leaders, healthcare providers, and research centers.
Responsibilities
- Identifies and develops relationships with national and regional medical and scientific thought leaders, patient advocacy groups, and centers of excellence aligned with Acadiaโรรดs Medical Affairs and Development objectives.
- Engages national and regional thought leaders to discuss research, medical information, and participate in scientific exchange and education about therapies.
- Provides Phase 2 / 3b / 4 research trial site support and cultivates/in facilitates investigator-initiated research proposals.
- Develops and maintains scientific, clinical, and therapeutic expertise for Acadiaโรรดs portfolio.
- Cross-functionally collaborates with regional field leadership partners and other departments following compliance guidelines.
- Provides strategic field insights and identifies disease concepts/compound characteristics for product differentiation.
- Provides scientific, clinical, and educational support for internal and external clients.
- Represents the company at continuing education events, medical meetings, and conventions.
- Supports Commercial operations by participating in Speaker and Sales Representative Training.
- Partners with internal departments to ensure accurate delivery of medical and scientific information.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required: PharmD, PhD, MD/DO or DNP in a related field; 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the biopharmaceutical industry; previous MSL experience desired; psychiatry or neurology experience strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Preferred: Demonstrated expertise in drug information communication; experience with promotion/materials review/editing; knowledge of regulatory, compliance, commercial, and clinical issues affecting pharma and managed care.

- Oral and written communication with strong presentation skills; capable of presenting to physicians and at medical congresses.
- Material preparation for Medical Affairs, including editing promotional materials.
- Knowledge of customer segments and market dynamics; excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Collaborative and able to interact with all organizational levels; strong negotiation and influence skills.
- Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams; proactive with strong follow-through.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; drug information dissemination expertise.
- Proficient with MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time; residence near a major airport or within the geographical area.
Education
- PharmD, PhD, MD/DO or DNP in a related field required.
