Role Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientist who supports the US Medical Affairs organization by developing relationships with medical thought leaders, providing medical information through scientific exchange, and delivering clinical/scientific support for Jazz Pharmaceuticals and Medical Affairs. This position covers Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders and healthcare providers within Oncology
  • Develop and execute territory plans in alignment with US Medical Affairs plans
  • Identify and communicate key clinical and research issues and insights from KOLs to appropriate departments
  • Participate in medical education for healthcare professionals through on-site presentations at healthcare institutions, investigator meetings, national conferences, advisory boards, or regional meetings
  • Provide scientific support for activities such as medical congress staffing, advisory boards, and sales training initiatives
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the therapy area, Jazz products, emerging research, and competitive landscape
  • Establish reputation as a trustworthy source of scientific information; attend scientific congresses to stay informed and support KOL activities
  • Provide clinical presentations and information in response to unsolicited questions in academic, community, and healthcare provider settings
  • Communicate emerging data and clinical experience through scientific exchange and peer-to-peer interactions
  • Contribute to Medical Plan development and execution; manage budget as needed; collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Interact with HCPs as a scientific resource to support activities aligned with the Medical Plan
  • Maintain company standards and Jazz values; document and forward adverse events and product complaints; adhere to codes of practice

Qualifications

  • Ability to analyze and communicate complex scientific information; strong written and spoken English
  • Excellent planning, organization, and presentation skills; strong strategic mindset
  • Self-motivated, autonomous, flexible, and results-focused
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal relationship-building skills
  • Experience with digital platforms and tools
  • Willingness to travel at least 60% of workdays; driving required

Education

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD or equivalent) with 3–5 years in hematology/oncology medicine
  • License (RN, NP, CNP, PA or equivalent) with a Master’s Degree and 5+ years in hematology/oncology medicine
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as an MSL or in a comparable role; solid tumor and/or molecular diagnostics experience strongly preferred
  • Willingness to travel 60–70% time; valid driver’s license and residence within 60 miles of a major airport

Additional Requirements

  • Frequent travel between meeting sites; computer and office equipment usage
  • Work environment involves frequent external interactions; may require outside normal hours to meet business demands
