General Summary:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Pain serves as a scientific liaison to the medical/academic community by building and maintaining relationships with Health Care Providers/Professionals (HCPs) to disseminate clinical and scientific information about Vertex compounds in a timely, ethical, stakeholder-focused manner. Shapes the medical plan via external stakeholder insights and supports Medical Affairs strategy and execution. Engages HCPs based on scientific/educational and research needs using Vertex resources, and provides emerging data as appropriate.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop trusted relationships with Thought Leaders and relevant HCPs; leverage academic-center inter-relationships.
- Apply the SEM (Scientific Engagement Model) in all interactions.
- Incorporate the medical plan into territory planning; capture feedback in CRM to inform strategy.
- Use CRM/analytics to capture interaction details and manage workload.
- Provide advanced, compliant scientific discussions on disease state and product.
- Apply payer knowledge to patient care delivery.
- Support clinical development/operations by presenting IB content at SIV meetings, trial site nominations, and end-of-study data reviews.
- Represent Vertex at medical congresses (coverage, booth staffing, summaries; may lead logistics/debrief).
- Mentor/train less-experienced colleagues.
- Complete tasks in compliance with Vertex processes (e.g., CRM entry, reporting, training).
Knowledge and Skills:
- Literature appraisal and credible presentation of clinical/scientific information.
- Knowledge of assigned territory, healthcare regulatory environment, compliance, disease protocols, and Health Economics/Outcomes Research.
- Proficient Microsoft Office; ability to work in a matrix.
- Fluent in English and local language (oral/written); valid driverβs license; travel up to 70%.
Education and Experience:
- Advanced biomedical/life sciences degree (e.g., MS, NP, PA).
- 3 yearsβ experience as an MSL or equivalent medical affairs experience in pharma/biotech.
- Therapeutic area experience helpful.
Pay Range:
$150,300β$225,500 (eligible for annual bonus and annual equity awards).
