Role Summary

Medical Science Liaison, Neurodegeneration in Ohio/Western PA. The MSL engages in scientific exchange to enhance medical education, data generation, and patient access to medicine. The role focuses on identifying medical needs, building relationships with Thought Leaders and Healthcare Providers, and facilitating research within a defined geography.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with academic and community research thought leaders, appropriate HCPs, and access stakeholders within a given geography to answer scientific, unsolicited product, and HEOR related questions. Use various channels for interactions (1:1, group presentations, remote, etc.)
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using available scientific resources and presentations. Present information to TL/HCPs and respond to questions with medical accuracy and compliance with guidelines.
  • Actively assess the medical landscape by engaging TL/HCPs/Access Stakeholders to understand their needs; continuously update knowledge on treatment strategies, products, unmet medical needs, clinical trials, HEOR, and competitive landscape.
  • Identify opportunities to partner with HCPs on disease state initiatives, collaborative research projects, and investigator-sponsored research aligned with strategic objectives
  • Attend medical congresses and local/regional meetings; collect and provide meaningful medical insights to support strategy development and business decisions
  • Develop geography-specific Field Medical and TL Interaction plans; adopt institution/account planning approach; contribute to development and delivery of scientifically meaningful medical programs
  • Establish a customer-centric, compliant collaboration with cross-matrix field teams; provide scientific updates to internal stakeholders; support promotional meetings with scientific data and speaker management; participate in Congress activities
  • Support Interventional and Non-Interventional Research (ISR/NIR) studies by identifying potential sites, advising on study feasibility, and ensuring safety reporting and compliance

Qualifications

  • Required Experience: MD, PharmD, PhD, APP, PA, NP with experience in Neuroscience or a broad medical background and relevant pharmaceutical experience
  • Experience Desired: minimum 2 years in clinical/pharmaceutical environment; prior MSL experience; ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong translating of scientific data for clinicians; excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to build peer-to-peer relationships; quick learner; alignment with BMS values
  • Essential Qualification: ability to drive a company-provided car; valid driving history and ethics
  • Travel: travel required; field-based; reside within the territory or within 50 miles of territory borders

Skills

  • Knowledge of disease area and scientific publications; understanding of scientific/clinical area, competitive landscape and patient treatment trends
  • Knowledge of clinical trial design and process; knowledge of national healthcare and access environment; HEOR concepts
  • Excellent English language skills, spoken and written
  • Strong communication, presentation, and peer-to-peer relationship-building skills
