Role Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based role in Neuro-Oncology serving as an extension of the US Medical Affairs organization, responsible for developing and enhancing professional relationships with medical thought leaders and providing medical information and scientific support for Jazz Pharmaceuticals.

Location: Northeast region (remote) including coverage area as described; travel 60–70% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • KOL Development and Field Engagement: identify and develop relationships with key opinion leaders and healthcare providers; develop and execute territory plans; communicate insights from KOLs to appropriate departments; participate in medical education for HCPs; provide scientific support for medical congress staffing, advisory boards, and training initiatives.
  • Position Self as Scientific Expert: maintain up-to-date knowledge of therapy area, products, research, and competitive landscape; establish reputation as a knowledgeable source of scientific information; attend scientific congresses to support KOL activities; understand local and national clinical practice trends; provide clinical presentations and information in various settings; communicate emerging data objectively; support data generation activities.
  • Medical Affairs Planning and Plan Execution: contribute to US Medical Plan; collaborate cross-functionally to apply a Key Account Management approach; align scientific engagement with broader organizational objectives; interact with HCPs to support activities aligned with the Medical Plan (advisory boards, speaker development, clinical trials).
  • Maintain Company Standards and Jazz Values: act ethically and with integrity; engage healthcare providers in meaningful scientific exchange; document and report adverse events and product complaints; adhere to codes of practice; maintain personal development plans and timely reporting.

Qualifications

  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: ability to communicate complex scientific information to diverse audiences; clear and concise presentation skills; strong planning and organizational skills; strategic mindset; self-motivated and autonomous; ability to learn quickly and adapt; excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills; proven collaboration with commercial teams while maintaining scientific integrity; proficiency with digital platforms; excellent spoken English.
  • Preferred: success supporting product launches in a field medical capacity; experience managing multiple molecules or therapeutic areas; track record in clinical trial site support and patient recruitment; understanding regulatory requirements for field-based personnel.
  • Education and Licenses: advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD or equivalent) with at least 3 years’ Oncology or Rare Disease experience; or license (RN, NP, CNP, PA or equivalent) with Master’s and at least 5 years’ Oncology or Rare Disease clinical practice; minimum 2 years as an MSL or equivalent; neuro-oncology experience strongly preferred; field position requiring travel 60–70%; valid driver’s license and residence within 60 miles of a major airport.

Education
