Role Summary

Medical Science Liaison, Dermatology in West PA / West NY. The MSL identifies disease and product related medical needs in a defined geography, develops and maintains relationships with Thought Leaders and Healthcare Providers, and engages in scientific exchange to support medical education, data generation, and patient access to medicine. The role serves as the medical resource for external stakeholders in the community and collaborates with internal teams to ensure safe and appropriate use of BMS medicines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with academic and community research thought leaders, appropriate HCPs, and access stakeholders within a given geography; engage via 1:1, group presentations, remote interactions, etc.
  • Present scientific information to TL/HCPs, respond to questions with medical accuracy, and ensure compliance with guidelines and local procedures.
  • Assess the medical landscape, understand stakeholder needs, and stay updated on treatment strategies, products, unmet medical needs, clinical trials, HEOR, and competitive landscape.
  • Identify opportunities to partner with HCPs on disease state initiatives, collaborative research projects, and investigator sponsored research aligned with BMS objectives.
  • Attend medical congresses and local/regional meetings; convey insights to medical and commercial organizations to support strategy and decisions.
  • Develop geography-specific Field Medical and TL Interaction plans; contribute to cross-functional institution/account plans.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of medically meaningful programs in line with local plans.
  • Establish a customer-centric, compliant collaboration with cross-matrix field teams; support medical/scientific training and provide key updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide scientific support at promotional meetings; evaluate speakers and support contracted speakers as applicable; participate in Congress activities.
  • Support Interventional and Non-Interventional Research (ISR/NIR) to facilitate patient recruitment and discussions on safe use of investigational products; provide site feasibility insights to clinical development; assist with ISR submission and execution; ensure pharmacovigilance documentation is understood and followed by investigators; support CRO-sponsored studies as defined by scope.

Qualifications

  • Required Experience: MD, PharmD, PhD, APP, PA, or NP with experience in a specific disease area or broad medical/pharmaceutical background.
  • Experience Desired: at least 2 years in clinical/pharmaceutical environment; prior MSL experience; ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong analytical ability to translate data for physicians; excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to build peer-to-peer relationships; quick learner; demonstrates BMS values.
  • Essential Qualification: ability to drive a company-provided car; valid driving history with ethics and integrity; open to long-distance travel between locations.

Knowledge / Skills

  • Disease area knowledge and understanding of scientific publications.
  • Knowledge of clinical trial design and process; knowledge of HEOR concepts; familiarity with national healthcare and access environment.
  • Excellent English language skills, spoken and written.
