Medical Science Liaison, CardioRenal - Denver CO/Sioux Falls SD

Role Summary

The Medical Science Liaison for CardioRenal is a field-based scientific and clinical expert responsible for providing medical and scientific support for Cardiorenal marketed products, new indications, and compounds in development. The role involves engaging in scientific exchange with targeted KOLs, KDMs, and HCPs to support Medical Affairs objectives and Therapeutic Brand Team initiatives. You will identify key customers, develop peer-level relationships, and collaborate with Clinical Development activities to advance therapeutic goals and optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• The CardioRenal Medical Science Liaison is a field-based professional with scientific, clinical and therapeutic area expertise responsible for providing medical and scientific support for Cardiorenal marketed products, new indications for current products, and compounds in development.
• Engage in scientific exchange with targeted Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Key Decision Makers (KDMs), and Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) consistent with Medical Affairs objectives.
• Identify and engage key customers with scientific expertise and business knowledge of AstraZeneca marketed products and compounds in development; develop peer-level relationships with KDMs, HCPs and researchers; identify pre-clinical, clinical and post-marketing study investigators in alignment with Clinical Development goals.
• Uncover barriers to optimal disease management, identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes, provide actionable information that enhances the value and appropriate use of company products; respond to customer inquiries with focused clinical and scientific information.
• Adhere to internal standard processes and regulatory/compliance requirements; sustain expertise in disease-state management, emerging therapies, and competitive landscape; provide clinical support and deliver data presentations regionally and nationally; demonstrate project leadership and mentoring within the therapeutic area.

Qualifications

• Required: Advanced Clinical/Science Degree (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD, NP, PA-C; BSN with extensive clinical experience may be considered)
• Required: 0-2 years of experience in a clinical or commercial setting
• Required: Thorough understanding of the healthcare system landscape
• Required: Established networks and clinical experience within the Therapeutic Area focus
• Required: Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
• Required: Demonstrated ability to discuss scientific content and context to multiple audiences
• Required: Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Required: Strong leadership capabilities
• Required: Excellent project management ability
• Required: Thorough knowledge of regulatory environment
• Required: Ability to travel 50-70% (percentage varies with geography)
• Preferred: Established experience delivering quality improvement initiatives
• Preferred: 2+ years’ experience as a Medical Science Liaison in the pharmaceutical industry
• Preferred: Established track record of basic or clinical research
