Role Summary

CardioRenal Medical Science Liaison role focused on providing medical and scientific support for Cardiorenal products, engaging with Key Opinion Leaders, KDMs, and HCPs, and driving evidence-based practice changes in cardiovascular and renal disease areas.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical and scientific support for Cardiorenal marketed products, new indications, and compounds in development.
  • Engage in scientific exchange with targeted KOLs, KDMs, and HCPs consistent with Medical Affairs objectives.
  • Identify and engage key customers with scientific expertise and knowledge of AstraZeneca products; build peer-level relationships with KDMs, HCPs, and researchers.
  • Identify pre-clinical, clinical, and post-marketing study investigators aligned with Clinical Development and Therapeutic Brand Teams.
  • Uncover barriers to optimal disease management, identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes, and provide actionable information to internal stakeholders.
  • Respond to customer inquiries with focused clinical and scientific information that supports appropriate use of products.
  • Deliver clinical and scientific information that differentiates the companyโ€šร„รดs products.
  • Adhere to internal processes and regulatory/compliance requirements; stay current on disease state management, emerging therapies, and competitive landscape.
  • Provide clinical support and deliver data presentations regionally and nationally; demonstrate project leadership across the field medical team and therapeutic area.
  • Train and mentor within the therapeutic area; provide performance guidelines and coaching.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Advanced Clinical/Science Degree (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD, NP, PA-C; BSN with extensive clinical experience may be considered)
  • Thorough understanding of the healthcare system landscape
  • Established networks and clinical experience within the Therapeutic Area focus
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated ability to discuss scientific content to multiple audiences
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Excellent project management ability
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory environment
  • Ability to travel 50-70% (percentage varies with geography)

Desirable Qualifications

  • Established experience delivering quality improvement initiatives
  • 2+ yearsโ€šร„รด experience as a Medical Science Liaison in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Established track record of basic or clinical research
