Role Summary

Medical Science Liaison, CardioRenal in Ann Arbor, MI. You will be a field-based scientific expert responsible for providing medical and scientific support for Cardiorenal products and development programs, engaging in scientific exchange with KOLs, KDMs, and HCPs, and collaborating with Therapeutic Brand Teams to advance practice change and patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • The CardioRenal Medical Science Liaison provides medical and scientific support for Cardiorenal marketed products, new indications for current products, and compounds in development.
  • Engage in scientific exchange with targeted Key Opinion Leaders, Key Decision Makers, and Healthcare Professionals consistent with Medical Affairs and Therapeutic Brand Team objectives.
  • Identify and engage key customers with scientific expertise and business knowledge of AstraZeneca products; develop peer-level relationships with KDMs, HCPs, and researchers; identify investigators for clinical and post-marketing studies aligned with Clinical Development goals.
  • Uncover barriers to optimal disease management, identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes, and deliver clinically differentiating information to internal stakeholders while responding to inquiries with balanced clinical and scientific content.
  • Adhere to internal processes, regulatory/compliance requirements, sustain disease state expertise, provide clinical support and regional/national data presentations, and contribute to project leadership, coaching, and mentorship within the field medical team.

Qualifications

  • Required: Advanced Clinical/Science Degree (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD, NP, PA-C; BSN with extensive clinical experience may be considered).
  • Required: 0-2 years of experience in clinical or commercial setting.
  • Required: Thorough understanding of the healthcare system landscape.
  • Required: Established networks and clinical experience within the Therapeutic Area focus.
  • Required: Experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Required: Demonstrated ability to discuss scientific content and context to multiple audiences; excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Required: Strong leadership capabilities and excellent project management ability.
  • Required: Thorough knowledge of regulatory environment.
  • Required: Ability to travel 50-70% (geography-dependent).
  • Preferred: Established experience delivering quality improvement initiatives.
  • Preferred: 2+ years’ experience as a Medical Science Liaison in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Preferred: Established track record of basic or clinical research.

Education

  • Advanced Clinical/Science Degree required (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD, NP, PA-C, etc.).

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel 50-70% as needed by territory.
