Role Summary
Medical Science Liaison – Autoantibody Pipeline. This field-based role services the South-Central region, with preferred location in the Dallas, TX or Houston, TX area. Territory includes Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. The MSL provides objective scientific information to opinion leaders and health care professionals, develops and manages a geographical territory, and supports external research and education in alignment with regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Consistently demonstrate strategic territory planning and ability to build strong relationships within the territory.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining a field strategic plan.
- Responds in a timely manner to unsolicited scientific inquiries of HCPs/investigators/health care systems/academic medical centers and population health decision makers, integrating scientific data including real-world evidence into practice.
- Presents data and information in a manner appropriate to the audience and request.
- Execute plans regarding reactive and proactive outreaches as approved via the legal/HCC exceptions process.
- Integrates scientific data into real-life practice to meet customer needs, adapting interpersonal style to various situations.
- Anticipates responses of various individuals and teams based on their vantage point.
- Prioritize franchise customer-based initiatives and field responsibilities while balancing administrative duties and project responsibilities.
- Leverages knowledge of standards of care and Janssen company/investigator-sponsored trials and competitor landscape to facilitate external-internal research communication.
- Engages with external investigators regarding unsolicited research inquiries and acts as liaison to R&D, Medical Affairs, and operations teams.
- Provides clinical trial support to identify potential sites, resolve issues with enrolled sites, and participate in meetings (e.g., site initiation visits, investigator launch meetings).
Effectively leads at least one scientific or strategic Immunology project, identifies educational gaps, and elevates team acumen. Demonstrates strong scientific acumen.
- Participates in team calls, trainings, and journal clubs; stays current with standard of care and scientific developments.
- Attends and leads scientific conferences to gather new information relevant to the company and external scientific community.
- Shares medical insights and synthesizes data for the MSL team and partners.
- Allocates time for self-driven learning of the scientific landscape.
- Represents and supports Johnson & Johnson at scientific meetings, congresses, advisory boards, and investigator meetings; may speak at such events.
- Performs administrative duties timely, accurately, and in compliance (e.g., expense reports, activity documentation).
- Maintains composure in uncertain circumstances with minimal direction.
- Supports regional/local sales training initiatives and enhances field personnel competencies in collaboration with Sales Learning and Development.
- Communicates and collaborates with field-based partners and other Immunology MSL teams regularly.
- Partners with others to lead or participate in large-scale projects.
- Maintains understanding of regulatory and health care compliance guidelines and Medical Affairs SOPs.
Qualifications
Required:
- A PharmD, PhD, or MD with 1–2 years of relevant hematology, immunology, and/or auto/alloimmune clinical or research experience.
- 1–2 years MSL experience, preferably in rare disease.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and remote technologies.
- Ability to travel up to 70%.
Preferred:
- Launch experience in rare disease is highly preferred.
- Significant experience giving presentations is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and remote technologies.
