Role Summary

Territory: IA, MN, WI. Builds relationships and demonstrates the clinical outcomes and benefits of NNI products. Educates and demonstrates the benefits of key products to healthcare professionals. Provides medical information and coordinates educational workshops, round tables, and medical forums. Develops and maintains medical plans in coordination with the Field Director. Serves as a scientific liaison between Novo Nordisk and external customers to further scientific exchange and provides advanced product and medical field support to Medical, Sales and Marketing, and Government relations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative Duties:
    • Completes administrative duties accurately and on time, in line with current SOPs
    • Complies with guidelines, policies, legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements
    • Manages regional business and operational budgets
    • Maintains understanding of Novo Nordisk processes and assists others to understand them
    • Provides monthly reports on scientific support activities and budget expenditures
    • Records activities in the customer response management system and expenses in Concur
  • Advocacy & Professional Relationship Development:
    • Attends medical and scientific meetings to stay current and build relationships with health care providers and IHNs
    • Develops appropriate use of NNI products and increases utilization of services
    • Supports representatives in answering questions from health care providers and IHNs
    • Combines account management, business acumen, and scientific expertise to add value
    • Establishes the medical account strategy/plan through relationship cultivation and collaboration opportunities
  • Field-Based Clinical Support:
    • Collaborates with HEOR to deliver scientific value propositions and deliver HEOR presentations
    • Informs development of scientific strategies with Marketing and Sales
    • Coordinates with trial sites to ensure timely study review, initiation, completion, and publication; supports investigators and patient recruitment
    • Coordinates with regional FMA to cover clinical and scientific needs
    • Coordinates with internal stakeholders to provide system-wide clinical education within IHNs and manage professional relations
    • Coordinates with HSM to educate executives and formulary stakeholders to secure access to products
    • Develops and presents product and scientific updates, including formulary presentations

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree required
  • At least two years’ experience in a health-related system, pharmaceutical company, or managed care environment required
  • Relevant clinical and/or therapeutic experience preferred
  • Displays business acumen/knowledge based on formulary decisions
  • Extensive experience in diabetes strongly preferred
  • Strong communication skills

Additional Requirements

  • Physical travel: 50-75% overnight travel required
  • Driver must maintain a valid driver’s license
