Clinical Research and Development
With supervision, oversees the direction, planning, execution and interpretation of clinical trials or research activities of a clinical development program. Participates in cross-functional teams to generate, deliver, and interpret high-quality clinical data supporting overall product scientific and business strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Manages design and implementation of study protocols for a clinical development program; oversees project-related education of investigators, study site personnel, and AbbVie study staff.
- Oversees clinical studies and study integrity; reviews, interprets, and communicates accumulating safety and efficacy data; oversees study enrollment and key deliverable timelines (with Clinical Operations); assesses and reports serious adverse events per policy and regulations.
- Contributes to scientific content for protocols, Investigator Brochures, Clinical Study Reports, regulatory submissions/responses, and other program documents.
- May serve on a Clinical Strategy Team as clinical representative; helps develop a cross-functionally aligned Clinical Development Plan.
- Participates in opinion leader interactions; partners with Medical Affairs, Commercial, and others as required.
- Stays current via conferences, medical literature, and training.
- Understands and complies with regulatory requirements for clinical studies and global drug development; may contribute to regulatory responses.
- Ensures adherence to Good Clinical Practices, pharmacovigilance standards, SOPs, and other quality standards.
Qualifications:
Medical Director
- M.D./D.O./non-US equivalent with relevant therapeutic specialty; residency strongly preferred; psychiatry fellowship desirable.
- Ability to run a clinical research study with appropriate supervision.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration; clinical trial experience preferred.
- Knowledge of clinical trial methodology and regulatory/compliance; protocol design experience desirable.
- Excellent oral and written English communication.
Senior Medical Director
- M.D./D.O./non-US equivalent; psychiatry residency strongly preferred.
- 2+ years clinical trial experience; translational research preferred.
- Run a moderate-complexity clinical research program with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lead on global cross-functional team.
- Knowledge of clinical trial methodology, regulatory/compliance; experience developing clinical strategy and protocol design.
- Excellent oral and written English communication.
