Role Summary
Medical Affairs Senior Director, Oncology – Colorectal Cancer. Based in Cambridge, MA, this role provides scientific leadership for US Medical Affairs Oncology across Brand and pipeline molecules, serving as a key resource for Takeda medical teams, cross-functional partners, and external stakeholders. The position partners with USOBU and OTAU to evolve the emerging pipeline and translate scientific findings into aligned internal strategies and external activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide scientific leadership/guidance across USMAO activities for on-brand and advanced-stage and/or pipeline molecules, including data generation, analysis and interpretation, publications, medical communication, medical training, medical information, and support for market access and reimbursement needs.
- Work in a multifunctional matrix with USMAO, Regional/Global Medical Affairs, OTAU, R&D, OBU, Patient Advocacy, and external collaborations.
- Lead the development and implementation of Medical Strategy for US Medical Affairs Oncology, coordinate across Medical Affairs, R&D, and Commercial to develop and maintain strategic plans; ensure compliant execution of tactics; manage the annual operating budget.
- Advance external collaborations with healthcare practitioners, research groups, payers, and patient advocacy groups, ensuring strong cross-organizational collaboration.
- Champion new approaches to drug development Life Cycle Management (LCM); partner with USOBU/OTAU as a stakeholder in the emerging pipeline portfolio.
- Serve as a scientific/medical expert for oncology products and related Takeda therapeutics; maintain high scientific acumen and act as a leader/resource for medical teams and stakeholders.
- Survey and translate scientific findings and market events to ensure awareness and alignment among internal partners on potential impacts.
- Act as scientific lead for assimilation, dissemination, and archiving of content across disease states.
- Provide leadership and scientific insight for overall medical affairs strategies and for research, publications, and CME strategies.
- Participate in Medical Affairs and provide insights on multiple therapeutic area/product teams as needed.
- Oversee medical and scientific training across Takeda US Medical Affairs and other functions; oversee development and timely communication of medical training to appropriate partners by field medical team.
Qualifications
- Required: Medical Degree with 3+ years clinical or MD-related healthcare experience, or PhD/PharmD with 10+ years scientific/pharmacology experience post-degree, including 6 years in bio-pharmaceutical industry (R&D, medical affairs, or commercial).
- Required: Superior oral and written communication skills; ability to engender trust and respect across peers and leadership.
- Required: Firm understanding of pre-clinical and clinical drug development processes; knowledge of regulatory environment; ability to work as a team player.
- Required: Demonstrated ability to integrate Medical Affairs with Development and Commercial functions.
- Preferred: Oncology experience in GI/Colorectal Cancer; clinical, research, or teaching experience; advanced PC skills (MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint); knowledge of Medical Affairs processes and tools; MBA or relevant business degree.

Travel Requirements
