Role Summary
Medical Affairs Senior Director, Oncology – Colorectal Cancer. Lead scientific/medical strategy and partnerships across US Medical Affairs Oncology, driving data generation, publications, medical training, and collaborations to support the evolving pipeline. Serve as a medical expert in oncology products and Takeda therapeutics, guiding internal and external stakeholders and ensuring alignment with strategic priorities. Location: Cambridge, MA.
Responsibilities
- Provide scientific leadership/guidance across USMAO activities for brand and advanced stage/pipeline molecules, including data generation, analysis, publications, medical communication, medical training, medical information, and support for market access and reimbursement needs.
- Work in a multifunctional matrix organization with USMAO, Regional and Global Medical Affairs, OTAU, R&D, OBU leaders, Patient Advocacy, and external collaborations.
- Lead development and implementation of Medical Strategy for US Medical Affairs Oncology; coordinate across Medical Affairs, R&D, and Commercial to develop strategic plans and ensure compliant execution; manage annual operating budget.
- Advance external collaborations with healthcare practitioners, researchers, payers, and patient advocacy groups; ensure cross-organizational collaboration.
- Champion new approaches to drug development Life Cycle Management; partner with USOBU and OTAU as a stakeholder in the emerging pipeline portfolio.
- Serve as a scientific/medical expert for oncology products and disease states; maintain high level of scientific acumen and act as a resource for Takeda medical teams and partners.
- Survey and translate scientific findings and market events to ensure awareness and alignment among internal partners on potential impacts.
- Act as scientific lead for assimilation, dissemination, and archiving of disease-state content.
- Provide leadership for medical affairs strategies and for research, publications, and CME initiatives.
- Participate in Medical Affairs activities and provide scientific/strategic insights across therapeutic areas/products as needed.
- Oversee medical and scientific training across Takeda; develop and communicate relevant training to appropriate partners in a timely fashion by field medical team.
Qualifications
- Essential
- Medical Degree and 3+ years clinical or MD-related healthcare experience or PhD/PharmD with 10+ years in scientific/pharmacology fields, including 6 years in bio-pharmaceutical industry (R&D, medical affairs, and/or commercial).
- Superior oral and written communication skills; ability to earn trust and respect across peers and leadership.
- Strong understanding of pre-clinical and clinical drug development processes and timelines.
- Ability to navigate and integrate Medical Affairs with Development and Commercial functions.
- Understanding of legal and regulatory environment of the pharmaceutical industry.

- Oncology experience in GI/Colorectal Cancer; clinical, research, or teaching experience.
- Advanced PC skills (MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint).
- Knowledge of Medical Affairs processes and tools; MBA or relevant business degree.

Additional Requirements
- Travel: Periodic travel up to 25%.
