Materials Science Solid State Lead-SMDD

Role: Materials scientist specializing in solid-state characterization within Lilly's Synthetic Molecule Design and Development (SMDD) organization. Main objectives: support development of novel small molecules, peptides, and emerging modalities from pre-clinical to commercialization by providing technical expertise in solid form screening, characterization, and scale-up crystallization. Responsibilities include conducting solid-form screening, developing crystallization workflows, troubleshooting solid-state issues, and documenting scientific results. Requirements: PhD in physical sciences (e.g., chemistry) or related field; 5+ years industry experience preferred. Skills: familiarity with XRPD, DSC, TGA, DVS, HPLC; experience with solid form screening, salt/cocrystal development, and scale-up crystallization.
