Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop Vertex’s direct-to-patient (DTP) strategy across brands/assets/therapeutic areas to improve diagnosis and treatment access.
- Monitor market trends/competitor activity/emerging digital health models to inform strategy.
- Identify and address patient drop-off points (diagnosis, provider referral, reimbursement, prescription routing, therapy initiation) and evaluate DTP opportunities.
- Design and optimize end-to-end patient pathways (awareness → activation → care → conversion → therapy start → adherence).
- Build business cases for DTP investments (CAC economics, LTV modeling, infrastructure costs, conversion assumptions, ROI measurement).
- Define and implement DTP models (journey orchestration, access navigation, direct commerce, go-to-market reconfiguration).
- Partner cross-functionally to connect fragmented touchpoints; establish shared goals, KPIs, governance.
- Lead modular enterprise capability development across the portfolio.
- Oversee external partnerships/vendors (telehealth, pharmacy, fulfillment, diagnostics, digital engagement).
- Drive patient engagement innovation (symptom-based education, screening, targeting/retargeting, closed-loop optimization).
- Ensure initiatives align with legal/regulatory/privacy/data governance and patient experience standards.
- Serve as a thought partner to senior leadership.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (business/life sciences/public health/healthcare administration or related); advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years in biopharma/healthcare/digital health/patient services.
- 5+ years leadership in patient access, commercialization, patient support, digital health, market access, and/or omnichannel engagement.
- Experience designing/scaling patient-centric programs across the journey.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical commercialization, specialty access models, and reimbursement.
- Experience building business cases/operating models/strategic roadmaps.
- Proven success leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong analytics and executive communication.
- Experience in highly regulated environments.

Preferred Skills
- Experience launching DTP/direct commerce/digitally enabled access models.
- Specialty therapy/high-friction access knowledge; cash-pay/affordability alternatives.
- Familiarity with non-dispensing pharmacy/hub services/specialty distribution.
- Integrating digital/medical/market access/commercial strategy; patient experience design.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Typically 10+ years experience and 3+ years supervisory/management experience.

Pay Range
- $196,000–$294,000
