Manufacturing Supervisor Night Shift – Downstream Bioprocessing
Role Overview:
Responsible for leading manufacturing personnel and daily operations supporting bulk production of monoclonal antibody (mAb) products at Elanco’s Elwood, Kansas site. Oversees downstream bioprocessing activities to achieve production targets while maintaining safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and cGMP. Develops team members, drives operational excellence, and fosters accountability and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Lead daily downstream bioprocessing operations (buffer formulation, cell clarification, protein A chromatography, Tangential Flow Filtration) and partner with upstream and fill/finish to meet schedules.
- Supervise, coach, and develop manufacturing personnel via performance management, training, and feedback.
- Ensure activities comply with USDA, EMA, cGMP, approved procedures, and batch production records.
- Maintain a strong production-floor presence to promote safe work practices, quality, and accountability.
- Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Validation, Supply Chain, and other teams.
- Monitor production performance, equipment readiness, and documentation (batch records, SAP transactions, manufacturing documentation).
- Lead/support investigations, root cause analyses, and CAPA for deviations and issues.
- Drive continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years’ experience in a regulated, commercial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to wear appropriate gowning and PPE.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a biomanufacturing related field.
- Biomanufacturing and monoclonal antibody manufacturing experience.
- Understanding of USDA, FDA, EU GMP, cGMP.
- Operational excellence/lean/Six Sigma/TPS; leadership success.
- Experience with SAP, OSI PI, VEEVA.
Additional Information:
- Travel: minimal 0–5%.
- Location: Elwood, KS.
- Night shift 5p–5a, 12-hour shifts; 2-week rotation (M,T,F,Sa,Su,W,R); shift structure may change with notice.
- Night/weekend premiums; 10% night weekday, 14% night weekend.
