Position Summary:
This Automation Engineer position is a subject matter expert in developing automated systems for production and packaging environments. Collaborates with maintenance and interdepartmental teams to troubleshoot existing automation systems and create/execute automation improvement projects aligned with site business objectives.

Responsibilities:
- Streamline manufacturing while maintaining product quality and adhering to FDA regulations and cGMP guidelines.
- Administer user access and system backups on all industrial equipment.
- Identify improvements; work with internal engineering team and external engineering firms to design, develop, and implement automated equipment and upgrades.
- Develop and maintain documentation for automation equipment or processes.
- Support continuous improvement of site automation systems.
- Support maintenance team troubleshooting and problem-solving on existing equipment.

Qualifications:
- Bachelorโ€™s degree required (preferably automation, process control, electrical, or mechanical).
- Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in industrial controls and automation, including design, implementation, and sustaining automated systems for manufacturing.

Skills/Knowledge:
- Proven engineering background maintaining/improving automation systems in regulated manufacturing environments.
- Ability to develop process requirement specifications and work with outside design firms and Operations to establish solution systems.
- Read/verify/develop P&ID, engineering layouts, and engineering drawings/documents.
- Strong programming and troubleshooting skills: BAS/BMS (Siemens Insight/Desigo), PLC (Allen Bradley/Rockwell), HMI (PanelView, Wonderware InTouch, iFIX).
- Problem-solving and communication skills.
- Familiar with FDA 21 CFR Part 11, cGMP, and GAMP5.
- Proficient in MS Office and MS Project.
- Data acquisition, historian solutions, virtualization, and/or AutoCAD a plus.
