THE OPPORTUNITY

Vir Biotechnology is looking for a proactive Manager, Supply Chain to support our Technical Operations team in all supply chain activities up to the clinical stage. You will be the lead for supply chain and shipping/logistics to support VIR Research, External Manufacturing, Stability, etc., ensuring that material movement, trade compliance, and inventory are managed with a high standard of efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

This role is based in our San Francisco California office with the expectations to be onsite 4 days a week.

What You'll Do

  • Manage end-to-end supply chain operations, including coordination of import/export shipments, inventory management, and logistics for GxP products
  • Own and manage relationships with key vendors related to shipping, VAT compliance and long-term storage solutions, ensuring service level agreements are met
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Technical Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement, Research and external vendors to ensure effective and timely material flow
  • Process and expedite material shipment requests from internal stakeholders, ensuring adherence to project timelines and regulatory requirements
  • Schedule and coordinate both international and domestic shipments, maintaining full compliance with global trade regulations and guidelines
  • Oversee the management and archiving of import/export permits
  • Ensure all shipments have appropriate cargo insurance, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies
  • Manage trade compliance activities, including accurate application of HTS policy, codes and adherence to all relevant customs and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with Finance and Tech Ops to manage the annual VIR cargo insurance.
  • Prepare and process quotes, requisitions, and purchase orders for services via enterprise systems (Coupa, Netsuite, Agiloft).
  • Review, approve, and reconcile supplier invoices against purchase orders, service agreements, and quotes to ensure accuracy in vendor charges
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders on supply chain projects that drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Provides support to the broader Supply Chain team as needed

Who You Are And What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years’ experience in Technical Operations with a solid understanding and experience in Pre-Clinical Supply Chain needs/planning and execution
  • Knowledge of import/export logistics, trade compliance, cargo insurance and experience with HTS codes
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements in shipping GxP materials
  • Experience with inventory management, order processing, and reconciling vendor invoices
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; able to work effectively across departments and with third-party partners; demonstrates initiative in problem solving and willingness to learn

Who We Are And What We Offer

The expected salary range for this position is $121,000 to $170,000 per year. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.

Vir Biotechnology's compensation and benefits are aligned with the current market and commensurate with the person’s experience and qualifications.
