Role Summary
Manager, Scientific Communications, reporting to the Director of Publications Operations, responsible for supporting the operation and governance of iEnvision, Gileadโs global publications database system. They will assist in the implementation and maintenance of the database, develop training materials, and lead training sessions. The role includes auditing the system, running global and regional metrics, and ensuring compliance with SOP and good publication practices. This is a hybrid 3-days onsite position located at our Headquarters in Foster City, CA.
Responsibilities
- Extensive experience and knowledge of the iEnvision database.
- Point of contact for iEnvision operations and governance enterprise wide and resolution of issues with the database.
- Maintains iEnvision database ensuring the database compliance.
- Assists in internal efforts for vendor enhancements, customization, and maintenance of the database.
- Ensure training materials are created and updated.
- Coordinate vendor and internal DV/PDN training sessions.
- Run quarterly & yearly publication metric reports for the global scientific publications group.
- Run publication metric reports as requested by the Therapeutic Area.
- Responsible for conducting monthly internal iEnvision audits to ensure compliance with Gileadโs Global Scientific Publications.
- Policy, PDN SOP, Authorship policy and good publication practices.
- Coordinate with R&D Quality POC to document deviations and plan for resolution.
- Responsible for development and updating of internal SharePoint site for the centralization of information.
- Assist with budget processing to keep vendor monthly invoicing on schedule.
- Stay informed about publishing regulations and follow all medical publishing codes and ethics.
- Understand the evolving publications landscape through engagement with and participation in professional societies (e.g., ISMPP).
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor Degree in the health sciences or communication field with 3-5 years related experience.
- Preferred: Extensive demonstrated experience in operation and maintenance of global publication database management (PubSTRAT, DataVision, PubsHUB) gained through working within other biotech/pharmaceutical companies or a medical communication agency.
- Preferred: Effective communication and interpersonal skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and organizational, time management, and project management/planning skills.
- Preferred: Flexibility and adaptability to manage long-term activities in a constantly changing internal and external environment.
- Preferred: Demonstrated budget and resource management skills in a global organization.
- Preferred: Experience working globally, cross-culturally, and cross-functionally.
- Preferred: Clear understanding of current publication environment, good publication practices, Sunshine Act/Pharma Code of Conduct, ICMJE, GPP3, and other global guidelines related to publications, scientific data communication, and transparency standards.
- Preferred: Ability to understand and adhere to good publication practices and relevant guidelines on and scientific data communication, such as ICMJE, GPP3, and company policy and SOPs.
