Role Summary

Manager, R&D Finance in Cambridge, MA. Role supports Therapeutic Area Finance Lead with financial and accounting activities for a strategic R&D partnership, manages a complex cost-sharing structure, and supports clinical trial financial duties for the partnered asset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the R&D cost-sharing mechanism for a strategic R&D partnership with an external biotech, including direct and indirect costs (FTEs and FSOs).
  • Support financial planning, tracking, reporting, variance analysis, and monthly close processes.
  • Assist in budgeting process and budget consolidation for internal governance and joint steering committee.
  • Support monthly/quarterly closes, including accruals and journal entries; ensure closes are completed accurately and with high quality.
  • Establish effective relationships with functional project members including alliance management; provide business partnering to meet alliance-related deliverables and resolve issues.
  • Develop understanding of clinical trial budget management processes and support the clinical trial finance team on monthly close, process improvements, and other deliverables.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 5 years of experience in R&D/ equivalent and FP&A
  • Demonstrated understanding of business operations and measurements
  • Experience with reporting, planning, and monthly variance analysis
  • Financial planning and reporting systems experience
  • Strong experience in working with datasets and reporting for stakeholders
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and problem-solving
  • Broad business exposure beyond the finance function
  • Ability to operate effectively in a global/matrix environment
