Role Summary

Manager, R&D Finance in Cambridge, MA. Support financial and accounting activities for a strategic R&D partnership, manage a complex cost-sharing structure, and contribute to clinical trial financial duties within the clinical finance team. Drive process improvements across systems and deliverables to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the R&D cost-sharing mechanism for a strategic R&D partnership with an external biotech, including direct and indirect costs.
  • Support financial planning, tracking, reporting, variance analysis, and monthly close processes.
  • Assist budgeting efforts, including budget consolidation for internal governance and joint steering committees.
  • Support monthly/quarterly closes, including accrual calculation and journal entries; ensure timely, accurate closes.
  • Foster relationships with functional project members and provide business partnering support to meet alliance deliverables and resolve issues.
  • Develop understanding of clinical trial budget management and support the clinical trial finance team with monthly close and process improvements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 5 years of experience in R&D/equivalent and FP&A
  • Demonstrated understanding of business operations and measurements
  • Experience in reporting, planning, and monthly variance analysis
  • Financial planning and reporting systems experience
  • Experience working with datasets and reporting for stakeholders
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and problem-solving
  • Experience operating in a global/matrix environment
