Role Summary
The Manager, Operations β Cell Culture is responsible for leading and overseeing cell culture operations that produce GMP and RUO proteins and antibodies across various cell lines. This role ensures operational excellence through effective team leadership, process optimization, and adherence to quality standards. The position collaborates cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement initiatives, maintain compliance, and achieve departmental and organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage cell culture operations teams to meet production and quality objectives.
- Oversee personnel management, including hiring, training, performance reviews, and professional development.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets (CapEx and OpEx) and monitor financial performance.
- Review, approve, and optimize standard operating procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Drive process improvement initiatives and implement best practices for operational excellence.
- Ensure adherence to GMP standards, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Represent the department in cross-functional projects and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
- Establish and track key performance metrics to monitor team effectiveness and operational success.
- Provide technical guidance and foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in related field and 5-8 years of progressive relevant experience.
- 2 to 5 years management experience preferred.
- Previous GMP laboratory experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of cell culture processes, GMP compliance, and quality best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, across diverse teams.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with the ability to make strategic decisions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining attention to detail.
Additional Requirements
- Onsite work required during standard business hours; occasional extended hours or weekend work may be necessary to meet operational needs; limited travel for cross-functional meetings or training.
- Physical requirements: Ability to stand or sit for extended periods; manual dexterity to handle laboratory equipment; ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
