Role Summary
As the Office of Ethics & Compliance (OEC) Communications Manager, you will design and execute strategic communications initiatives that inspire and engage both our OEC team and the global AbbVie community. Partnering closely with OEC colleagues, leaders, and cross-functional teams, you will amplify understanding of our business strategy and meta AbbVie priorities. This role demands strong project management to deliver communication excellence across diverse platforms and key initiatives, including OEC All-Staff Meetings, the monthly newsletter, Global Ethics & Compliance Week and Awards, OEC SharePoint/Teams, templates, tools, and in-house videos. You will also collaborate on change management efforts and drive innovative communication strategies by leveraging emerging approaches and technologies, including AI, to continuously enhance our impact.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communications plans that effectively promote OEC strategy and resonate broadly across the organization.
- Collaborate with OEC colleagues to identify high-impact communications opportunities to help drive key OEC and enterprise-wide compliance change management initiatives.
- Collaborate with Corporate Affairs and other stakeholders to ensure all employee communications are coordinated and delivered most effectively to the greatest readership to drive employee engagement.
- Working in collaboration with the Associate Director, Compliance & Communications, provide tactical execution of OEC All-Staff Meetings, managing content, speakers, vendors, and stakeholder engagement to ensure seamless and impactful events.
- Function as editor of the OEC monthly newsletter to consistently drive engagement, clarity, and action; utilize the monthly cadence to advance business strategy and drive alignment on key initiatives.
- Working in collaboration with the Associate Director, support OEC’s marquee Global Ethics & Compliance Week (and Ethics & Compliance Award) on an enterprise level by partnering with stakeholders to enhance program reach and effectiveness.
- Track communications effectiveness through data analysis and surveys, driving continuous improvement and relevance.
- Manage the OEC communications editorial calendar in partnership with stakeholders, consulting on message timing and delivery.
- Raise the bar on the utilization of SharePoint and Teams platforms within the OEC, ensuring user-friendly and efficient communication channels.
- Create communication assets that enable the OEC team, including templates, one-pagers, and in-house videos, fostering adoption of best-in-class communication practices, incorporating AI and digital innovations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, or equivalent preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience and proven history of success in managing internal communications initiatives which enhance employee engagement, drive business priorities, and protect corporate reputation and company values.
- Experience in the healthcare/bio-pharma industry a plus but not required.
- Strong project management skills with proven leadership of cross-functional teams on large-scale initiatives.
- Strategic thinking and business planning abilities to effectively diagnose needs, support the development of strategies, and influence organizational direction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with knowledge of emerging communication trends and technologies.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to anticipate organizational needs.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, or equivalent preferred.
