Position Summary
The Manufacturing Manager I leads and drives execution of cGMP manufacturing processes for cell therapies. Leads a team focused on manufacturing execution, technical assessment, safety/compliance/innovation, troubleshooting, investigations support, data analysis, and process improvement. Fosters repeatability, reliability, and cross-functional collaboration.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Manage Source Governing Documents (SOPs, work instructions, batch records, forms) for cell therapy operations.
- Oversee validated manufacturing system operations; plan/assign resources and control costs.
- Maintain compliant, efficient, safe, inspection-ready operating/storage areas.
- Drive right-first-time and change controls; complete MRB materials and support MRB meetings.
- Initiate and drive closure of deviations, investigations, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Ensure training compliance for GxP tasks; verify associates/leads are trained.
- Coordinate/provide operations status to Planning, Manufacturing, QA/Operations, Global Supply, and others.
- Presence in facility for walkthroughs, troubleshooting, event triages, and coaching.
- Oversee operators’ GMP-safe, contemporaneous documentation, training, and procedure writing.
- Hire/mentor/develop team; performance reviews and coaching.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in relevant science/engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years in cGMP cell therapy or bioprocessing manufacturing; 2+ years leadership/performance management highly desirable.
- Highly preferred: cell therapy manufacturing; aseptic processing (ISO 5 cabinets) and BSL-2/ML-1 human material handling; cell expansion (incubators/single-use bioreactors), washing, separation, cryopreservation.
Working Conditions/Requirements
Cleanroom aseptic work; PPE/gowning; lift/carry up to 30 lb; push/pull up to 50 lb; BSL-2/ML-1; vapor phase liquid nitrogen; strong magnets; assigned shifts (days/swing/nights/weekends/holidays).
