Role Summary

The Manager, Global Scientific Communications is a dynamic role within Global Medical Affairs that collaborates with cross-functional partners to deliver projects in Neuroscience at a global level under supervision. You will lead the execution of key Scientific Communications tactics and activities, core scientific content, the Scientific Communications Platform, HCP education, congress activities, and digital initiatives, including AI-enabled tools, and support publication plans with independence and supervision. You will develop experience in reviewing promotional and non-promotional materials and in Takeda publication standards/SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to Medical Communication and publication initiatives ensuring quality and timely delivery against medical plans.
  • Understand the medical plan and support the maintenance and scientific accuracy of Scientific Communications materials for the assigned asset in collaboration with the cross-functional team.
  • Support development and update of assigned assets.
  • Support publication planning milestone tracking, author coordination, peer review, and vendor management. Summarize scientific literature and competitive intelligence to inform strategy.
  • Support congress planning and execution including booth and symposia development, collection and generation of scientific insights; provide post-congress support.
  • Support medical review during promotional and non-promotional material review; may take on review responsibilities over time.
  • Implement AI-enabled processes and tools to support congress planning, post-congress insights, and medical review workflows.
  • Explore digital tools, including AI, to accelerate material review and approval.
  • Use project management digital tools to plan, execute, and monitor projects.
  • Integrate AI-powered assistants to help with scheduling, reminders, and answering common queries.
  • Provide Medical Affairs representation during concept design of materials.
  • Understand CMLR standards and best practices to ensure ethical, compliant, and accurate data communication; promote good publication practices among authors and stakeholders.
  • Take on other independent projects as assigned; ensure projects stay on strategy, within budget, and executed timely.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in Scientific Communication and Publications best practices, including AI advancements and their integration.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MPH, MS, PhD, MD, or PharmD) in biosciences preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years in the bio/pharmaceutical industry; 4 years for master's degree; experience in matrix structures (e.g., Medical Scientific Liaison, Medical Information, Medical Communications, Publications).
  • Some experience in Medical Communication planning and execution or transferable skills.
  • Experience interacting with agencies.
  • Experience or interest in applying digital tools and AI technologies in medical communications or related functions.
  • Prior experience in epilepsy is an asset.
  • Familiarity with international regulatory and legal guidelines for Medical Communication strategies and execution is an asset.
