Purpose
The Manager, Global Logistics will oversee end-to-end distribution for drug products, including cold-chain integrity, 3PL management, and regulatory compliance. Supports logistics for clinical programs and ensures transfer of GMP and non-GMP materials across the global supply chain, working with CMC, Supply Chain, Quality, and other functions. Leads strategic transportation planning to optimize costs and service levels and ensure uninterrupted product flow. Manages a team of 1β3 Transportation Analysts and leads multiple small-to-medium projects or 1β2 large projects.
Responsibilities
- Direct day-to-day movement of antibodies, intermediates, drug substance/product, and packed finished goods across the network (3rd-party warehousing and CMOs) under GDP/GxP and internal SOPs.
- Manage specialized cold-chain distribution (temperature-controlled packaging, lane qualification, monitoring, carrier performance).
- Coordinate GXP document review/approval with QA.
- Develop/implement transportation cost-savings initiatives using data analytics.
- Monitor/report KPIs (on-time delivery, lane compliance, transport costs).
- Lead logistics optimization initiatives to meet customer needs cost-effectively.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, ISO, CLIA, and other Quality Management System requirements.
- Ensure paper/electronic records storage and retention per quality system requirements.
- Escalate carrier/3PL issues and run quarterly business reviews.
- Serve as SAP routing SME and connect transportation issues to business analytics/BTS.
- Lead freight forwarder governance meetings (monthly/quarterly business reviews).
- Lead transportation sustainability margin improvement projects with US & Canada partners.
- Investigate/develop/implement logistics information systems (incl. global and in-market TMS).
- Supervise/coach Transportation Analysts and oversee daily operations and analytical projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or Business Administration (MBA beneficial).
- 8β10+ years in logistics planning/distribution/transportation/project management (pharma/biotech preferred).
- 2+ years managing direct reports preferred.
- Familiarity with shipping biological materials (high-toxicity) and cold-chain management (preferred).
- Hands-on ERP (SAP preferred) and TMS experience.
- Strong analytics (Excel, Power BI) for identifying inefficiencies and modeling scenarios.
- APICS (CSCP/CLTD) or PMP is a plus.
- Cross-cultural collaboration; experience across geographies and with international stakeholders (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication; critical thinking and problem solving.
- Proven cost savings/operational efficiency; ability to resolve disruptions under pressure.
- Proficiency with MS Project, PowerPoint, MS Word, Excel; strong business financial systems/tools knowledge.
- International or local regulatory/QA knowledge desirable.
