Position Summary
- Based in Dallas, Texas. Provides expert Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) guidance to meet environmental, health, and safety regulatory requirements and best practices. Develops and maintains safety policies/procedures, audits for compliance, responds to emergencies, and investigates safety issues and work-related injuries/illnesses. Manages corporate safety training programs.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage safety programs to protect employees/company and maintain safe working conditions.
- Monitor and deliver training on safety policies/procedures/regulations; develop programs as needed.
- Verify compliance with federal/state/local health and safety regulations; maintain required records.
- Manage participation in client/OSHA/EPA and other audits/inspections; provide documents and identify safety measures.
- Develop and implement programs to reduce frequency/severity of work-related injuries/illnesses and loss (workers’ comp, general liability, property).
- Conduct incident/injury/illness investigations, track findings, and meet regulatory reporting requirements.
- Supervise/coach/develop EHS support staff; chair safety committee meetings.
- Perform physical inspections of grounds, buildings, equipment, and operations.
- Provide input on disaster/contingency planning; coordinate response during events.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Public Health, Health Science, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or equivalent.
- 5–10+ years EHS compliance expertise (hazard communications, hazardous waste, Bloodborne pathogens, chemical hygiene).
- Knowledge of federal/state (Texas) and local EHS regulations and prevention techniques.
- Experience in manufacturing and/or highly regulated life science industry.
- Strong written/verbal communication, interpersonal skills, planning/organizational skills, and ability to design/implement a safety program.
- Experience with risk assessments, incident investigations, audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and business internet use.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree related to EHS/occupational health/public health.
- Certifications: CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, OSHA 30-hour or safety certificates.
- Experience building/implementing EHS programs and facility startups/ramp-ups.
Training
- Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control, Chemical Hygiene, Hazard Communications, Hazardous Waste Management, OSHA injury & illness reporting; First Aid/CPR; other role-specific/compliance training.
Other
- Periodic travel; some evenings/weekends/holidays; possible after-hours emergency response.
