Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements robust EHS programs, training initiatives, and policies to reduce incidents and ensure compliance with regulations and company requirements.
- Provides EHS leadership and direction for management, professional, technical and support staff.
- Ensures systems are in place for legal and ethical compliance regarding EHS issues.
- Leads efforts to educate employees on best practices, precautions, and established procedures.
- Provides business perspective, strategic and tactical direction to develop and implement EHS initiatives for the EHS long-range plan.
- Represents the company externally on EHS matters with external regulatory agencies and non-government organizations.
- Maintains broad understanding of local, regional, and global EHS regulations and practices.
- Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, including OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM, 29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA Risk Management Planning (RMP, 40 CFR 68), plus Mechanical Integrity, PCI, DOT, and other applicable requirements.
- Creates a safety culture by reducing/eliminating operations-related injuries/accidents, product/equipment loss or damage, and unnecessary costs through consistent safety, security, hygiene, and standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs Degree (EHS related, Engineering) + 5β12 years EHS experience, or Masterβs Degree (EHS related, Engineering) + 5β8 years EHS experience; manufacturing or laboratory EHS experience required.
- CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) preferred (not required).
- Experience conducting qualitative/quantitative occupational hygiene risk assessments and exposure monitoring (e.g., monitoring strategy, technical reports, risk-reduction recommendations).
- Experience implementing EHS regulations, conducting risk assessments, root cause analysis, incident investigations, interacting with regulatory agencies/external organizations, and managing cross-functional teams.
- Experience developing practical standards/policies; technical writing and business communications.
- Ability to build effective relationships and resolve conflicts; manage projects/programs.
