Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain EHS Global standards, policies, systems, and programs.
- Provide EHS leadership and direction to management, technical, and support staff.
- Ensure systems enable legal and ethical compliance with EHS requirements.
- Provide strategic and tactical direction to develop and implement EHS initiatives for the EHS long range plan.
- Represent the company externally on EHS matters with regulatory agencies and non-government organizations.
- Maintain understanding of local, regional, and global EHS regulations and practices.
- Maintain and update IT reporting databases; generate monthly and quarterly EHS performance reports.
- Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119), EPA RMP (40 CFR 68), Mechanical Integrity programs, PCI, DOT, EPA, and Construction/Contractor Safety.
- Create a safety culture to reduce/eliminate injuries, accidents, product/equipment damage or loss, and unnecessary costs by ensuring facilities and equipment meet EHS safety, security, hygiene, and AbbVie standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree (EHS related, Engineering) plus 5โ12 years EHS experience, or Masterโs degree (EHS related, Engineering) plus 5โ10 years EHS experience.
- Required: EHS experience in Construction and Contractor safety.
- Preferred: EHS experience in manufacturing or R&D environments.
- Experience implementing EHS regulations, conducting incident investigations, working with regulatory agencies/external organizations, and managing cross-functional teams.
- Ability to develop practical EHS standards/policies; technical expertise and technical writing/business communication skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships and resolve conflict.
- Ability to manage projects/programs across US and OUS sites.
- Ability to travel 50%.
Preferred:
- Bilingual (Spanish) (verbal and written) preferred.
- Certification in CSP, CIH, OHST, or CHST preferred.
