Role Summary

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join our dynamic Collaborations Accounting team. In this exciting role, you will lead a team responsible for handling the Company’s profit-sharing and licensing arrangements, as well as oversight of Accounts Receivable, as well as prepare detailed accounting analyses, while also reviewing the work of team members to ensure accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and the Company’s SOX controls and accounting policies. The Manager will analyze financial data to ensure proper accounting treatment of transactions and collaborate with other departments, including Finance to gather information essential for accurate accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly/quarterly accounting cycle and oversee the month-end close process for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Interpret and manage sophisticated collaboration agreements, including validating the calculations for revenue recognition and ensuring the accuracy of the related accounts receivable
  • Take full ownership of accounting responsibilities for the Company’s key collaborative partner, including calculation of profit-sharing collaboration revenue, R&D and SG&A cost-sharing expenses, while ensuring compliance with agreement terms
  • Ensure the accuracy of accruals for various R&D license agreements
  • Oversee the completeness and accuracy of Accounts Receivable reconciliation within the department and prepare for future collaborative audits
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of technical accounting principles, particularly revenue recognition and ASC 808: Accounting for Collaborative Arrangements
  • Review journal entries, supporting schedules, account analyses, reconciliations, and flux explanations within areas of responsibility
  • Perform quarterly reconciliations of Accounts Receivable with Finance and review quarterly invoices
  • Facilitate quarterly and annual audit requests, including leading SOX walkthroughs
  • Prepare, update, and maintain SOX narratives and accounting policies as needed
  • Collaborate with various internal teams to ensure alignment on financial initiatives and foster effective cross-functional communication
  • Provide recommendations and support for process improvements and operational efficiencies
  • Act as a liaison for exchange of information with all levels of management within various departments
  • Mentor and develop accounting team members to enhance their skills and performance
  • Support and contribute to ad hoc projects as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, CPA/CPA track preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive professional experience
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • High proficiency with Microsoft applications, specifically Excel (financial functions, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Experience with Oracle GL a plus

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred
