Position Summary
The Cloud FinOps Engineer enables cost‑efficient, scalable, and well‑governed cloud usage across AWS, Azure, and GCP by applying FinOps principles via technology, automation, and platform design.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform day‑to‑day cloud cost/usage analysis across AWS, Azure, GCP (tagging enforcement, anomaly detection, optimization follow‑up).
- Operate/enhance cloud cost observability (dashboards, scorecards, unit‑economics, usage trends).
- Investigate cost spikes/anomalies by correlating architecture, utilization, and operational events.
- Identify gaps in cost governance and implement technical improvements.
- Serve as a technical point of contact; translate cost/utilization/architecture patterns into engineering guidance.
- Facilitate optimization reviews and influence engineering-led FinOps best practices.
- Partner with Finance to provide reliable cloud cost data/tooling/automation (IT retains ownership).
- Analyze usage to find waste/optimization opportunities (rightsizing, storage tiering/lifecycle, Kubernetes/container costs, data transfer/networking).
- Support commitment strategies (Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, CUDs) via analysis/tooling; drive continuous automated optimization.
- Build automation with Python; develop AWS solutions (Lambda, RDS/DynamoDB/Redshift, Step Functions); manage CloudFormation; integrate controls into CI/CD; automate anomaly reporting, scheduled analysis, and billing data ingestion. (Optional: Auto Remediation Frameworks.)
- Apply IAM and enforce auditable cost attribution/ownership; enable evidence/traceability for compliance.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally; communicate clearly to engineering/ops/leadership.

Qualifications & Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree (CS/Engineering/IS/Data Analytics or related).
- 4–5+ years in cloud engineering/platform ops/SRE/FinOps/cloud ops.
- Strong understanding of cloud cost drivers: compute (EC2/VMs/Kubernetes), storage (S3/Blob/GCS), databases (RDS/DynamoDB/SQL), networking (data transfer/load balancers).
- Hands‑on Python; clean, maintainable code.
- Experience with AWS services (Lambda, databases, Step Functions), CloudFormation, CI/CD concepts.
- Data/analytics: Advanced Excel, SQL, cost modeling/analysis; visualization tools (Power BI/Tableau/QuickSight).
- GitHub/version control; tagging strategies/cost allocation/showback‑chargeback.
- Ability to scope/deliver moderately complex solutions; strong communication/collaboration.

Preferred
- FinOps Certified Practitioner/Analyst.
- Cloud billing/cost tools (AWS Cost Explorer/CUR/Billing Conductor/Budgets; Azure Cost Management; GCP billing exports; Apptio Cloudability/Flexera/Finout).
- Python + React for internal tools/dashboards.
- Observability tools (CloudWatch/Datadog/Prometheus/Grafana); regulated/enterprise experience.
- Savings Plans/Reserved Instances commitment strategy knowledge; Auto Remediation Framework familiarity.
