Role Summary

Leads category sourcing initiative teams that encompass local, domestic and/or international purchasing organizations. Responsible for establishing, articulating, and implementing sourcing strategies for individual spend categories, capital projects, supplier networks and geographic regions. Creates and manages project plans, identifies resources to support projects, drives projects through a sourcing process, and ensures end results meet stakeholder requirements. This role requires a proactive, relationship-oriented, customer-focused, and analytical approach with a focus on continuous improvement. This is a hybrid role in Florham Park (3 days onsite / 2 days remote).

Responsibilities

  • Conceive, initiate, develop, communicate, and manage the execution of purchasing strategies representing a minimum of $50 million of annual expenditures.
  • Deliver cross-divisional sourcing projects that yield savings, process improvements, sustainable long-term agreements, and risk-mitigating supply strategies; set targets and evaluate performance; hold teams accountable for key results.
  • Execute negotiations to produce legally sound, performance-based contracts for ongoing supplier management and program sustainability.
  • Communicate with management and stakeholder groups; foster productive relationships and information exchange to achieve objectives.
  • Build open, honest relationships with colleagues and stakeholders; tailor communications to needs, provide clear feedback, and write clear executive summaries and proposals.
  • Resolve conflicts constructively, focus on work issues, analyze root causes, and collaborate on mutually beneficial solutions; promote cultural sensitivity for lasting change.
  • Use analytical abilities to establish spend baselines and perform analyses of spend/market data and supplier proposals to support fact-based decisions.
  • Execute sourcing processes on time from scope development to implementation; identify and scope new projects and prepare scoping documents.
  • Set standards and supplier strategies, authorize resources, and drive value across stakeholders; gain senior-level approval for activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable AbbVie policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree: Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Chemistry/Biology or similar.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) is desired.
  • 6 years of total combined minimum experience.

  • Ability to lead teams through the sourcing process and maintain a fact-based focus without defaulting to compromise.
  • Proven ability to plan, execute, and measure successful project implementations and manage to key milestone dates for savings impact.
