Role Summary

The Manager, 3PL Partner Management Excellence enables the Deliver organization by defining, governing, and continuously evolving operational contracting and performance frameworks for 3PL partners across warehousing, distribution, and transportation. The role ensures MSAs, SOWs, SLAs, and pricing model constructs are clear, execution-ready, and consistently applied, while remaining adaptable to varying operational needs. Operating at the intersection of Deliver Operations and Procurement, the role translates complex operational requirements into effective contractual mechanisms that enable performance management, transparency, and continuous improvement throughout the contract lifecycle. This position collaborates with Operations, Process Excellence and Procurement to ensure 3PL agreements are commercially sound and operationally executable. Location options include Raritan, NJ; Memphis, TN; Bogotá, Colombia; or São Paulo, Brazil.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Contracting Frameworks
    • Define, document, and maintain standardized Deliver operational contracting frameworks for 3PL engagements, including MSAs, SOWs, SLAs, governance models, and escalation structures.
    • Establish clear operational definitions for scope, roles and responsibilities, service boundaries, audit requirements, change control, and dispute resolution.
    • Partner closely with Procurement and Legal to ensure Deliver operational requirements are accurately translated into contractual language and consistently embedded across agreements.
    • Ensure operational contract constructs remain aligned throughout the full contract lifecycle, including sourcing support, onboarding, steady-state operations, scope changes, renewals, and transitions.
    • Serve as the Deliver subject-matter expert for operational contract design, execution readiness, and lifecycle integrity.
  • Pricing Model & Cost Structure Enablement
    • Define and document standard 3PL pricing model architectures from an operational execution and governance perspective.
    • Establish clear activity definitions, cost drivers, assumptions, and measurement logic to enable transparency, governance, performance management, and continuous improvement.
    • Collaborate with Procurement and 3PL partners to shape pricing model structures that reflect operational realities and support effective governance and execution.
    • Provide operational leadership into commercial discussions to ensure alignment between pricing structures, service design, and execution feasibility.
    • Ensure pricing constructs support scalability, productivity tracking, and sustained year-over-year efficiency improvements.
  • SLA, Performance & SRM Enablement
    • Define SLA frameworks, KPI definitions, and measurement methodologies aligned to Deliver operational processes and execution realities.
    • Ensure performance frameworks enable consistent measurement, early issue identification, root-cause analysis, and corrective action management.
    • Provide operational input into SRM by enabling clear, contract-based performance expectations and governance mechanisms.
    • Ensure performance management balances service reliability, cost discipline, and continuous improvement objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement & Productivity Enablement
    • Embed continuous improvement, productivity, and performance expectations into operational contracting, pricing, and performance frameworks.
    • Define CI measurement logic and tracking mechanisms aligned with Deliver KPIs, value targets, and productivity commitments.
    • Ensure contracts enable sustained year-over-year performance improvement without compromising service performance.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership & Outcome Focus
    • Partner with multiple groups across Operations, Process Excellence, Quality, EHS, IT, Security, and Procurement, orchestrating the group to align operational and compliance requirements, commercial constructs, contractual language, and governance models, ensuring J&J requirements as thoroughly integrated into contracting and performance management.
    • Provide operational leadership and subject-matter expertise to inform category strategies, contract structures, pricing model design, and performance frameworks.
    • Support sourcing events, partner onboarding, operating model changes, and transformation initiatives by ensuring commercial and operational alignment.
    • Enable fact-based governance, issue resolution, and supplier accountability through well-designed contractual and performance mechanisms.
    • Outcome Focus: Define and track measurable outcomes to drive value for the business.

Qualifications

  • Required Experience
    • 7+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, logistics, or operations, with significant exposure to 3PL-supported operating models across warehousing and transportation.
    • Demonstrated experience defining, implementing, and governing MSAs, SOWs, SLAs, and operational contract structures in complex operating environments.
    • Strong understanding of 3PL pricing models and cost structures from an execution, governance, and transparency perspective.
    • Proven ability to translate operational processes and requirements into clear contractual definitions and performance mechanisms.
    • Experience operating in matrixed, cross-functional organizations, partnering effectively with Procurement, Legal, and Operations to shape commercially and operationally aligned solutions.
    • Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Preferred / Desired Experience
    • Experience spanning the 3PL industry and CPG and/or Healthcare sectors, preferably within Medical Devices / Technologies.
    • E2E supply chain experience, including, procurement, contracting, network planning or design, and systems enablement.
    • Experience supporting large-scale transformation initiatives, network changes, or operating model evolution.
    • Familiarity with logistics systems such as WMS, TMS, DRP, RTTVP, LMS, or similar platforms.
    • Lean, Six Sigma, APICS, or comparable certifications.
    • Prior experience enabling productivity, or cost-to-serve initiatives through operational governance and contract design.
