Role Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor – 2nd shift oversees maintenance and repair activities across the Rahway site, focusing on facilities and utilities systems and equipment. Trades supervised include pipefitters, millwrights, electricians, instrument technicians and HVAC technicians. The role ensures safe, quality, and on-time completion of maintenance work, manages attendance and work orders, writes and signs permits, supports energy isolation and lockout/tagout activities, tracks progress, and ensures craft compliance in CMMS documentation. The 2nd shift supervisor leads a team supporting the entire site and works a 2nd shift (3:00 PM–11:45 PM, Monday–Friday).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performance, behavior and safety/training compliance of trades team, working in a union environment. Work with Union timekeeper for managing trades overtime
  • Take ownership of covered areas, proactively identifying problems, developing solutions, and driving efforts to completion. Work with planners to identify / specify equipment, develop repair plans, ensure required parts and tools are available to complete jobs, and verify work completion per site/company standards
  • Interface with customers to correctly and with a sense of urgency to characterize problems, develop and implement solutions, and communicate progress/status back to customers.
  • Coordinate with other trades/areas supervisors when support is needed or when work needs to be transferred between areas.
  • Complete workorder documentation and closeout, including workorders requiring strict GMP procedure requirements
  • 2nd shift supervisor will lead a team supporting the entire site, and so will need to develop a working knowledge of many areas

Qualifications

  • Required: 5-10 years of experience in applicable trade (pipefitting/plumbing, electrical, millwright, HVAC) and/or supervising trades in an industrial environment.
  • Preferred: Strong electrical background.

Education

  • Required: High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Vocation or technical school certification.
