Role Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting the mechanical aspects of manufacturing and packaging equipment and facilities in compliance with standard operating procedures. The role completes work orders and performs a wide range of skilled maintenance activities including maintenance, repair, improvements, set-ups, troubleshooting, follow-up, root cause analysis, and reliability maintenance on packaging and compounding equipment. The position may handle special assignments and projects, requires rotational schedules as needed, and may require overtime. Works with minimal supervision and exercises initiative and independent judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily Maintenance Tracker and inform the Master Mechanic or supervisor when walk-throughs of designated areas are conducted.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all packaging, compounding, and warehouse equipment.
  • Perform packaging and compounding equipment repairs as required (MTCE).
  • Train production personnel in the proper use of equipment.
  • Set up equipment, fine-tune, and troubleshoot using root cause analysis methods.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of hands-on mechanical experience with packaging equipment in pharmaceutical, food, packaging, or similar manufacturing environments.
  • Successful completion of an accredited certification program in mechanical engineering/mechanical design/troubleshooting.
  • Or three (3) years as a Perrigo Set Up Tech plus at least two years of completed education and active enrollment in a Mechanical/Industrial/Production/Electromechanical Engineering program from an accredited university/college.

Education

  • Active enrollment in a Mechanical/Industrial/Production/Electromechanical Engineering program from an accredited university/college.

Additional Requirements

  • Overtime with or without prior notice.
  • Ability to work under little to general supervision and exercise initiative and independent judgment.
  • Ability to work on rotational schedules as required.
