Maintenance Engineer I

Role: Maintenance Engineer supporting API production equipment at Novo Nordisk's NC facility. Objectives include ensuring equipment reliability, optimizing maintenance practices, and supporting plant productivity within a regulated, cGMP environment. Responsibilities encompass writing/reviewing maintenance plans and SOPs, supporting equipment design, troubleshooting operational issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The role involves technical support, compliance adherence, and mentoring maintenance staff. Qualifications: Bachelor's in engineering (preferred: mechanical, chemical, electrical, bio-process) or equivalent training with at least 3 years’ experience in utilities or process equipment maintenance. Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, with knowledge of mechanical systems, root cause analysis, reliability-centered maintenance, and process safety is advantageous. Preferred skills include Six Sigma Green Belt, experience with SAP or CMMS, and familiarity with API systems like centrifugation and chromatography. The position requires strong technical, troubleshooting, and project management skills, along with excellent communication. High-value biopharma specifics involve working within a regulated API manufacturing environment, with emphasis on maintaining equipment for fermentation, purification, and other process systems. The role reports to the Senior Manager, Maintenance Support, and involves collaboration with engineering, operations, and external stakeholders. Physical requirements include working in cold, hazardous, and elevated environments, with the ability to operate machinery and inspect equipment. The work setup is on-site at the Clayton facility with potential for cross-functional interaction.
