Role Summary
Machine Repair Technician is responsible for maintaining formulation, filling, packaging, utility, and facility equipment and systems within a Reliability Based Maintenance environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, improvements, and modifications to production, utility, and facility equipment including but not limited to fillers, pick & place robots, cartoners, case packers, pumps, air compressors, boilers, and other mechanical equipment.
- Provide training on maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems in compliance with SOPs, GMPs, GLPs, PSM, and other regulations.
- Serve as maintenance advisor on projects including equipment design, parts/material selection, documentation, testing, problem solving, maintenance requirements, and project scope.
- Prioritize assessment and decision making for troubleshooting and diagnostics; collaborate with operations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
- Conduct assembly, repair, and proactive maintenance for packaging, manufacturing, utility, and facility equipment and systems in a cost-effective manner.
- Review equipment operation to identify deficiencies or improvements to increase OEE.
- Read and understand drawings/blueprints for installation/repair of equipment.
- Use precision measuring devices and machinist tools.
- Able to lift 40lbs unassisted.
- Maintain aseptic certification and perform gowning appropriately.
- Work in tight spaces, perform bending/twisting/reaching, climb ladders or use powered lifts, and remain on feet for extended periods.
- Travel between campuses as work orders arise.
- Ensure awareness of allergy considerations related to Penicillin or Cephalosporin due to products manufactured in facility.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Certificate with 3–5 years in manufacturing or Technical/Vocational School diploma with 5–8 years of machine repair experience.
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain forklift license.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry operations and GMP processes.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency and knowledge in relevant areas; ability to articulate issues and solutions and produce project reports.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective/preventative actions with minimal assistance.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize work, and adapt to changes.
