Role Summary

Logistic Scientist - Product Sustainability, Quality, & Logistics

Provide logistic oversight at the Scientist level for end-to-end management of test articles and investigational veterinary products in support of clinical studies, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient handling, documentation, and distribution.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory of investigational veterinary products and test articles across the Kalamazoo site and within pharmacy operations; develop and maintain inventory management systems to track product conditions, quantities, and locations.
  • Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with DEA and FDA regulations for handling, storage, recordkeeping, and disposal of controlled substances and regulated compounds; maintain documentation in LIMS and regulatory databases; archive records for audits; collaborate to meet GLP and GCP inventory requirements; serve as primary contact for regulatory inspections and audits related to pharmacy operations.
  • Labeling & Packaging Operations: Prepare labels using dedicated software; operate label printing equipment and automated tools; execute labeling and packaging campaigns and non-GMP labeling as required.
  • Process Improvement & Digital Enablement: Support implementation and training for new sample management software and electronic applications; assist with documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • M.S. or B.S. with 7 years' experience in a scientific field, supply chain, or pharmacy management.
  • Preferred PharmD with relevant industry experience; active/unrestricted pharmacist license as required by state.
  • Demonstrated experience in inventory management and regulatory compliance (DEA and FDA) in a pharmacy or research setting.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and online inventory databases.
  • Ability to learn/use lab automation and digital tools; strong organizational, coordination, and technical laboratory skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in logistics or supply chain management within a laboratory, pharmacy, or research environment.
