Main Purpose And Objectives Of Position
- Provide technical expertise and operational support in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Radiation Safety (RS) programs (may include HSE programs as needed).
- Maintain and lead foundational RS program activities; provide technical guidance and lead radiological incident prevention and response for manufacturing and support units.
- Provide coverage aligned with a 24/7 manufacturing schedule (day, night, weekends, and/or variable shifts).

Key Responsibilities For This Role Include
- Perform radiation safety tasks daily: quantitative surveys for radioactive contamination and area radiation fields; collect/replace/analyze particulate and liquid samples; conduct radiation instrument constancy testing and calibration tracking; complete/review RS documentation for audit/inspection readiness.
- Support HSE compliance via scheduled safety inspections and other compliance activities.
- Develop Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and provide field presence to ensure appropriate controls and implementation of JHA recommendations.
- Lead implementation of RS operational readiness programs: equipment management, constancy testing, radiological surveys, sample collection & analysis, and radioactive waste management; support HSE programs as needed.
- Provide input on radiation safety-related design decisions.
- Assist in developing/rolling out RS programs, procedures, tools, and staff training/mentoring/onboarding to support an RS culture.
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to manage change and set requirements for safe and compliant operations.
- Help teams understand site-specific and regulatory requirements; facilitate implementation of compliant solutions.
- Complete internal HSE-RS audits/assessments; lead/support incident prevention, response, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Serve as liaison to subject matter experts, area owners, and contractors to find safety- and compliance-prioritized process solutions.

Requirements
- Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering or related science (e.g., radiological health, health physics, chemistry, biology, occupational safety/health, industrial hygiene).
- OR alternate: 3+ yearsโ€™ experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment (or similar) in a technically apt role.
- Experience working with unsealed radioactive materials; familiarity with exposure and contamination control practices; perform radiological surveys and use radiation detection instrumentation.

Other Information
- Requires entering manufacturing and laboratory areas with appropriate PPE.
- May require work in tight/confined spaces, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting/carrying heavy objects.
- Must carry a cell phone to support 24/7 manufacturing operations.
