Operations
Position Summary
- Perform downstream processing tasks for active biological ingredients produced in Lincoln, NE.
- Maintain a safe work environment and demonstrate reliability in attendance.
- Learn filtration, concentration, centrifugation, and chromatography of bacterial antigens.
- Comply with SOPs and regulatory documentation.
- Use verbal, non-verbal, and written communication; use mechanical skills to maintain equipment and identify mechanical problems.
Hours
- 3rd shift (Sunday–Thursday), 10:00pm–6:30am. Overtime/weekends/holidays may be required.
Position Responsibilities
- Follow safety SOPs (MSDS, Near Miss, PPE, biohazard training, monthly safety training).
- Be reliable in attendance and punctuality.
- Perform downstream processing: centrifugation, concentration, sterile filtration, chromatography purification, dispensing.
- Follow SOPs and complete required documentation (process worksheets, log sheets, timecards).
- Train in and comply with GMPs.
- Operate, clean, and perform minor maintenance on equipment (fermentors, seed isolators, centrifuges, filtration units, chromatography skids).
- Read/report test results using scientific instruments; identify mechanical problems.
- Clean areas per SOPs.
- Obtain license and operate mobile powered material handling equipment (forklift, tank tugs, etc.).
- Perform supplemental duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Minimum high school degree (or equivalent).
- Knowledge of PC/window-based applications.
Technical Skills/Competencies
- Mathematical calculations and metric conversions.
- Interpersonal/communication skills (verbal, written, non-verbal).
- Ability to use mechanical skills to maintain equipment.
Physical Position Requirements
- Exposure to chemicals, fumes/odors, noise, live steam, temperature fluctuations, biohazards; continuous standing, stairs, lift up to 50 lbs; weekend/holiday work may be required.
