Role Summary
Laboratory Assistant II in the Bioreactor Scale-Up and Development (BS&D) group within the Product Analytical and Process Development (PAPD) department. Supports routine laboratory tasks essential to BS&D core mission, executing tasks with guidance and collaborating within the team to achieve project goals.
Responsibilities
- Support lab operations to cultivate mammalian cells producing biologics in bench and pilot-scale bioreactors, including sterilizing, sanitizing, and operating bioreactors
- Prepare media, buffers and feeds
- Perform preventative maintenance and maintain laboratory equipment
- With guidance, troubleshoot bioreactor and equipment issues
- Be flexible to support critical laboratory operations, including occasional weekend and off-hours work, to ensure timely completion of process development studies and project deliverables
- Keep lab, storage, and hallway spaces clean and organized to maintain a safe working environment
- Willingness to learn and adapt new laboratory practices (SOPs, protocols, procedures etc.) with supervision
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced laboratory environment
- With guidance, identify key process improvement opportunities and implement strategies to increase speed and efficiency
- Be adaptable to learning and supporting additional activities to continuously support BS&D and PMPD through growth
Qualifications
- High School Diploma and 1–2 years of experience, or a combination of training and experience. A 2-year college degree may be preferred. Experience in cell culture or media/buffer prep is a plus
