Position Summary
The Lab Robotics Manager enables automation for Vx CL&AP and DDS laboratory areas, delivering high-throughput lab equipment and instruments to support clinical test read-outs and accelerate R&D project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to R&D lab technology strategy; stay current and assess external opportunities.
- Prioritize and execute lab robotics/automation projects; maintain appropriate service levels over system lifecycles.
- Serve as a technical expert in automation/robotics (Image Analysis, Liquid Handling—Hamilton/Tecan/Eppendorf, Automated Tube Labelling Systems).
- Ensure EHS requirements are met.
- Lead end-to-end laboratory automation/robotics delivery (preparation, execution, risk management, budget monitoring, stakeholder management).
- Design implementable, replicable systems for R&D scientists (including knowledge management) within internal OT networks.
- Set quality standards to minimize downtime; define the support model by technology type.
- Ensure robustness and uptime to minimize business disruption.
- Partner with Quality, Computer System Validation, Engineering/Tech, EHS, Procurement, and R&D platforms to define standards and identify cost savings.
- Manage and coordinate external partners across the system lifecycle; maximize investment value.
- Manage automation/robotics area personnel; communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or Automation.
- Lab technology and/or automation experience (preferably pharmaceutical/regulatory).
- Experience supporting/managing automation projects.
- 4+ years in pharmaceutical/regulatory R&D delivering automation solutions/services (hardware and/or applications).
- Experience in performance, risk, and quality management.
- 2+ years people management.
Preferred:
- Master’s in related field.
- Strong automation/robotics plus programming/software development knowledge.
- Analytical mindset; strong interpersonal/influencing skills; can coach junior team members.
- Mental agility in rapidly changing environments.
Work model
Hybrid; regularly based in Cambridge, MA.
Compensation/Benefits (US)
- Base salary range: $119,625–$199,375 (plus annual bonus and long-term incentive eligibility). Benefits include health/insurance, retirement, paid holidays/vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
