Position Summary

The Lab Operations Technician is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of laboratory facilities, ensuring equipment functionality, supply availability, and compliance with safety protocols. This role plays a key part in maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment by collaborating with scientists, vendors, and internal teams.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

These may include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with scientists, vendors, and safety personnel to enhance laboratory efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Work closely with facilities, EH&S and lab managers to maintain a safe and functional lab environment.
  • Support daily lab operations and maintain lab standards in collaboration with scientific teams.
  • Manage the maintenance and organization of all laboratory areas and equipment.
  • Coordinate technician visits for instrument preventive maintenance, calibration, and general service.
  • Identify and implement innovative techniques to improve lab operations.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance, troubleshoot technical issues, and coordinate building projects with the facilities team.
  • Ensure smooth operations of building infrastructure systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lab utilities.
  • Perform hands-on technician support for general lab service requests.
  • Maintain point-of-use (POU) restocking areas and ensure timely receipt of supplies and equipment.
  • Implement and integrate EHS-compliant policies for the storage and handling of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals.
  • Participate in routine safety walkthroughs and audits with EH&S.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facility systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assist with biological and hazardous waste stream management, including collection, documentation, and manifest signing.
  • Maintain availability of essential lab supplies, PPE, laboratory gases, and cryogens.

Required

Education and Experience

  • Associateโ€™s degree, Technical training and/or certifications preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in laboratory operations or facilities support.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Knowledge of EHS guidelines and hazardous material handling.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in using asset tracking software and excellent PC-based computer skills including Windows and MS Office.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic lab environment.

Physical Demands And Work Environment

Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. Laboratory Activities (if applicable): Biology and chemical laboratory environment experience needed. Environmental health and safety requirements also apply.

Travel

You may be required to travel for up to 5% of your time.

Total Compensation

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience and education. Crinetics Pharmaceuticals is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states. Salary Range

The salary range for this position is: $29.32 - $36.53.
