Role Summary

The Histology Lab Assistant within the Global Diagnostics division of Zoetis supports the histology team by performing essential laboratory tasks. The role follows ZRL operating procedures and assists with accessioning, sample preparation, and maintaining laboratory equipment. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, full-time.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace.
  • Handle and store all biological specimens in accordance with ZRL Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Ability to read, review, and follow SOPs and training modules set forth by Zoetis Reference Laboratories.
  • Properly handle and dispose of medical and biohazardous waste while adhering to all applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform routine maintenance of Histology equipment, including but not limited to tissue processors, automated stainers and embedding centers.
  • Consistently and properly fill out laboratory logs, including but not limited to maintenance logs, environmental logs, and cleaning logs.
  • Prepare biological specimens for shipment to offsite testing facilities, adhering to all standards set forth by regulatory bodies including the Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • File and distribute blocks and slides.
  • Monitors histology laboratory inventory and directs deficiencies to appropriate supervisory staff.
  • Receive, store, and login all laboratory and office supplies into designated locations.
  • Requires minimal to no oversight to perform all assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Manage email correspondence professionally and promptly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
