Role Summary

This is a full-time role (40 hours per week) with a daytime schedule. The position is responsible for maintaining the Bio-Techne animal facility, including comfortable handling of rodents. Additional duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the welfare and immunization of all rodents used in R&D Systems.
  • Perform general lab duties including filter sterilization, aliquoting, and labeling of samples.
  • Stock and organize supplies and materials; prepare reagents.
  • Follow company policies and safety guidelines as outlined in the Handbook and in the AWAIR, Chemical Hygiene and Exposure Control manuals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or AA degree or equivalent; with 2–4 years’ experience if holding a high school diploma, or 0–2 years with an AA or BS degree.
  • Attention to detail and organization.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Computer entry and/or typing skills desirable.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

Skills

  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to work with animals (mouse, rat). Adhere to IACUUC rules for animal care.
  • Skills pertaining to immunization of rodents.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
  • Ability to plan, organize and multi-task to complete assignments efficiently.
  • Ability to act independently on routine assignments or projects.
  • Ability to communicate professionally, both oral and written; excellent record keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work hours including weekends and holidays.
