Job Summary
The Key Account Manager (KAM) for the Dry Eye Business Unit is responsible for launching and growing market share with a strong focus on driving demand through the payer channel in a defined geographic area (reporting to the Area Sales Manager). The Dry Eye product portfolio is Vevye. Requires a highly motivated self-starter who can provide solutions, maintain positive presence with internal/external customers, stay organized, and multitask in a dynamic ophthalmic market. Assigned monthly/quarterly/annual sales revenue and product objectives achieved through consultative, value-based communication with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and staff on indications, use, and advantages. ~70% travel.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Meet/exceed quarterly sales revenue and product goals
- Own/accountable for reaching company goals
- Develop new customers while converting existing base
- Analyze, develop, and grow territory business
- Drive demand and deploy reimbursement solutions
- Call on ophthalmic HCPs in defined markets; develop physician/staff relationships
- Use internal resources for quarterly action plans; partner with accounts
- Record sales activity in CRM in a timely manner
- Maintain deep understanding of ophthalmic portfolio and competition; articulate compliant clinical benefits
- Follow up with urgency; collaborate with internal departments
- Travel routinely throughout assigned geography (expected 75β80%, may include overnight stays)
- Understand Pharmaceutical Industry Code of Practice; comply with state/federal regulatory requirements
- Manage expenses ethically; act as customer liaison with continual follow-up
- Submit required reports (including monthly expense reports) on time
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelorβs degree in related field
- 1β4 years pharmaceutical or medical device sales (ophthalmic experience beneficial)
- Relationship-building; absorb product/practice info and offer resonant solutions
- Strategic/targeted business plan execution
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); CRM proficiency
- Preferred: clinical understanding of ophthalmology
- Knowledge: payer landscape (Commercial, Medicare Part D, dual eligibility); physician therapy decision-making
- Excellent presentation/interpersonal, communication (written included)
- Independent judgment/initiative; multitask and adjust priorities; problem-solving/analytical skills
- ~70% weekly travel in defined territory with overnights
