Job Summary
The Key Account Manager (KAM) for the Dry Eye Business Unit is responsible for launching and growing market share with a strong focus on driving demand through the payer channel in a defined geographic area, reporting to the Area Sales Manager (ASM). The Dry Eye product portfolio is Vevye. Requires a motivated self-starter who offers solutions, maintains positive presence with internal/external customers, is well organized, and can multitask in a changing ophthalmic environment. Assigned monthly/quarterly/annual sales revenue and product objectives are achieved through consultation and value-based communications with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and staff. Requires pharmaceutical or medical device sales experience and a track record selling to physicians, private clinics, hospitals, and support staff. About 70% travel.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed quarterly sales revenue and product goals
- Own and drive accountability to reach company goals
- Develop new customers and convert existing base
- Analyze, develop, and grow the territory business
- Drive demand via organic pull-through and reimbursement solutions
- Call on ophthalmic healthcare professionals in defined markets
- Build physician and staff relationships
- Partner with accounts; use internal resources for quarterly action plans
- Record sales activity in CRM in a timely manner
- Maintain deep knowledge of product portfolio and competition; articulate compliant clinical benefits
- Follow up with urgency; collaborate internally
- Travel routinely within assigned geography (75β80%, may include overnight stays)
- Understand Pharmaceutical Industry Code of Practice; comply with state/federal regulations
- Manage expenses ethically; act as customer liaison; submit required reports
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelorβs degree in a related field
- 1β4 years pharmaceutical/medical device sales (ophthalmic beneficial)
- Build long-term customer relationships; absorb product/practice info
- Execute strategic business plans; strong MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ophthalmology clinical understanding preferred; payer landscape knowledge (Commercial, Medicare Part D, dual eligibility)
- Excellent presentation/interpersonal; strong communication and writing
- Independent judgment/initiative; multitask and solve analytically
- Ability to become proficient with CRM; 70% weekly travel with overnights required
