IT Lead - R&D Informatics

Role: R&D Informatics Lead responsible for managing and enhancing Protagonist’s lab informatics systems supporting discovery research in a biopharma setting. Primary focus on Thermo Fisher Scientific Labguru platform (ELN, SDMS, LIMS), serving as the system owner and technical lead. Responsibilities include strategy development, system lifecycle management, support, configuration, integrations, data governance, and user enablement to enable scalable, secure digital research workflows. The role involves translating scientific workflows into digital solutions, partnering with scientists and vendors, and leading lab transformation initiatives. Requirements: Bachelor’s in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, or related; 6-8+ years in biotech/pharma R&D informatics with hands-on experience supporting Labguru or similar platforms; strong understanding of laboratory workflows, data models, APIs, and GxP considerations. Preferred: background in biology or chemistry, experience with additional scientific informatics platforms, lab automation, AI/ML infrastructure, and regulated environments. The role demands stakeholder management, vendor coordination, documentation, and reporting. Work setup is onsite in Newark, CA, four days a week, with a contract duration of nine months. Salary range: $170,000–$210,000/year.
