Role Summary
Investigative Pathologist - veterinary pathologist leading preclinical pathology efforts in support of novel drug development. Apply deep understanding of comparative pathology to uncover disease mechanisms, validate therapeutic targets, and accelerate translation of animal model insights into human clinical breakthroughs.
Responsibilities
- Design and interpret pathology studies in animal models to support drug discovery and development programs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including toxicologists, pharmacologists, molecular biologists, and clinical researchers.
- Develop and refine animal models that mimic human disease pathology, with a focus on oncology, immunology, neurology, or rare diseases.
- Analyze histopathological data to identify biomarkers, therapeutic windows, and mechanisms of action.
- Contribute to regulatory submissions and scientific publications.
- Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies in digital pathology, AI-assisted image analysis, and molecular diagnostics.
Qualifications
- Required: DVM or equivalent veterinary degree; PhD and/or board certification (ACVP/ECVP) strongly preferred.
- Required: 10 plus years demonstrated experience in investigative or translational pathology, within a pharmaceutical or biotech or academic setting.
- Required: Strong knowledge of animal models of human disease and their relevance to drug development
- Required: Exceptional analytical, communication and collaboration skills.
